PPP will approach higher court against calling off election in NA-60

Islamabad Political Report/Moazzam Raza Tabassam: Secretary General Pakistan Peoples Party Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari addressing a press conference at PPP Media Office Islamabad said that ECP has stepped outside its authority by calling off election in NA-60 after disqualification of Hanif Abbasi.

Candidate from NA-60 Mukhtar Abbas, Anjum Farooq Paracha, Nazir Dhoki and Raja Altaf were present on the occasion.

Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that by such decisions ECP is fast becoming controversial. Election in any constituency can only be called off in the case of death of a candidate. He said before Hanif Abbasi, Maryam Nawaz and Capt. Safdar were also disqualified. Why elections in their constituencies were not called off, he asked. He said that PPP will approach higher judiciary against this decision by ECP. He demanded to withdraw the notification issued by ECP in this regard.

Candidate NA-60 Mukhtar Abbas said that his campaign had gained momentum and he was supported by the people of his constituency. He said that 11 chairmen of different councils had also announced to support him. He said that a great injustice has been done by the ECP against the people of constituency where PPP was winning hands down. He said that he will approach the higher court for justice.
