Islamabad Politics Report/Moazzam Raza Tabassam: Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal on Thursday said he had no information over rumors claiming Nawaz has sought political asylum in London.
Yesterday, Asif Ali Zardari , the Ex-President and head of PPP-P had claimed that Nawaz Sharif had sought political asylum in London ahead of Avenfield reference verdict.
FO spokesperson further said that it is not obligatory on the country wherein political asylum is taken to inform the country of origin.
Nawaz Sharif is currently in London to attend to his ailing wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. The accountability court is due to announce its verdict in the Avenfield case on July 6, in which Sharif is an accused. However, Nawaz has maintained that the announcement of the verdict should be delayed until he returns to Pakistan.
