Caretaker PM nomination: PPP is not in mood to consider the retired Judge as choice

Islamabad Politics Report/Moazzam Raza Tabassam: The names on wish-list for the post of caretaker prime minister unveil – PPP is not in mood to consider the retired judge as choice, a party inner source close to”Caretaker Makers” told in privy.

Just less than week ahead to touch the expire date of the present govt, in proccess to finalise the name of caretaker Prime Minister and nominations for transational cabinet, the opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah and Prime minister already met 3 time officially and signals the next meeting will be last with a result card on tuseday.

The current government is about to conclude its five-year term on May 31, after which the caretaker government will take over to hold the general elections, which are expected to be held in the last week of July or first week of August.

The caretaker prime minister will lead the interim set-up and attend to day-to-day matters of governance.
A day before the final meeting of PM and Opposition leader , PPP started The PPP has begun to showcasing its cards, Zaka Ashraf, Jalil Abbas Jilani for caretaker PM.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has finalised the names of Zaka Ashraf and Jalil Abbas Jilani for the post of caretaker prime minister.

The opposition leader in NA has forwarded these names to PM Abbasi. According to sources, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has telephoned Ashraf and Jilani informing them of the party’s decision.

Zaka Ashraf is the former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. He has also served as the adviser to chief minister Sindh from 1988-1990.

Jilani has a foreign service background having served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States and as the country’s foreign secretary.

Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to chair a high-level meeting at Zardari House in Islamabad today to discuss issues pertaining to the caretaker setup.

Retired Judge Jailani’s name has gone down to the lower level priority, Same happened in Dr. Ishrat’s case.

The days before PM and Opposition leader shedualed meeting, the PPP started unlocking the cards, Zaka Ashraf and Jalil Abbas Jilani on its wish list for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.
In stormy night , two days before, Jalil Abbasi Jilani and Zaka Ashraf met the PPP-P head Asif Ali Zardari at Zardari House Islamabad.

Asif Ali Zardari reached Captial from Lahore in stormy weather just night hours stay for said meetings.
During the stay, Asif Ali Zardari held detailed meetings with the nominated personalities on his wish list for caretaker setup.

The PPP again changed his mind and now finally taking part in the upcoming elections from Peoples Party parliamentarians platform, registered under the leadership of Asif Ali Zardi in eclection commission of pakistan.

Last thrusday, PPPP has submitted a application to election commission get premission to use party symbol “Arrow” for election 2018.

Before changing mind, PPP was preparing to participate in up comming election being allinace named “Pakistan People’s Party” registered in the leadership of Billawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari headed parties PPP and PPP-P with “Arrow” symbol.

Peoples Party Parliamentrians was founded by former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 2002, when Pakistantan Peoples party was barred from the election in military setup under Gen Musharraf. Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were barred from participating in 2002 elections under Musharraf’s military government.

The five names of other side’s wish list was also under consideration for the important posts in caretaker setup include former Pakistan Ambassador to the United Nations Abdullah Hussain Haroon, former State Bank governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi, former chief justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and former State Bank governor Dr Ishrat Hussain, sources further said.

“From these five names, Dr Maleeha Lodhi and Dr Shamshad Akhtar are favourites for the post due their expirence in foriegn affair fileds,” the sources added.
